Installation

Unpack and inspect contents. Place on level, stable surface near pool equipment pad.

  1. Position filter: Ensure adequate clearance for maintenance access.
  2. Connect plumbing: Use appropriate PVC fittings and cement for pool system connections.
  3. Install multi-port valve: Secure to tank top with provided hardware.
  4. Connect to pump: Ensure proper flow direction (inlet/outlet).
  5. Ground and bond: Follow local electrical codes for safety.

WARNING! Filter is heavy; lift with care to avoid injury. Ensure all connections are secure and pressure-tight.

First-Time Setup

Prepare filter for initial use; follow proper startup procedure.

  1. Assemble filter grids: Install grid assembly inside tank securely.
  2. Add DE powder: Measure appropriate amount (typically 6 lbs for Del60).
  3. Prime system: Open air relief valve, start pump until water flows steadily.
  4. Set multi-port valve: Position to FILTER for normal operation.
  5. Check pressure: Note clean pressure reading for future reference.

CAUTION! Wear protective gear when handling DE powder. Avoid inhalation.

Specifications

Controls and Settings

Multi-port valve positions: FILTER, BACKWASH, RINSE, WASTE, RECIRCULATE, CLOSED.

Normal Operation: FILTER position for standard filtration. BACKWASH for cleaning cycle. RINSE to settle DE bed after backwash. WASTE for bypassing filter. RECIRCULATE for circulating without filtering. CLOSED for system isolation.

Pressure Monitoring: Clean pressure typically 10-15 PSI. Backwash when pressure rises 8-10 PSI above clean pressure. Air Relief: Open to release trapped air during startup.

Connecting to Pool System

Standard connections: Pump outlet to filter inlet, filter outlet to pool return lines.

  1. Turn off pump and power before making connections.
  2. Use appropriate PVC primer and cement for permanent joints.
  3. Install unions for easy service access.
  4. Ensure proper support for plumbing lines.
  5. Check for leaks after pressure testing.

Tip: Install isolation valves for easier maintenance and winterization.

Operation Procedures

Standard filtration cycle and maintenance operations.

  1. Startup: Open air relief valve, start pump, close valve when water flows steadily.
  2. Normal filtration: Multi-port in FILTER position, monitor pressure gauge.
  3. Backwash procedure: Turn pump off, move valve to BACKWASH, restart pump for 2-3 minutes.
  4. Rinse cycle: Turn pump off, move to RINSE, run for 30-60 seconds.
  5. DE recharge: After backwash, add fresh DE through skimmer.
  6. Winterization: Drain completely, remove drain plugs, store multi-port valve.

WARNING! Never operate multi-port valve while pump is running. Always turn pump off before changing valve positions.

Maintenance Features

Regular maintenance schedule: Backwash when pressure rises 8-10 PSI above clean pressure. Complete tear-down cleaning every 6 months or as needed. Inspect grids annually for damage.

Care & Cleaning

Complete cleaning procedure: Turn off power, release pressure, remove multi-port valve, extract grid assembly, hose clean grids, inspect for damage, reassemble with new DE.

CAUTION! Wear gloves and eye protection during cleaning. Dispose of used DE properly according to local regulations.
