Installation

Unpack and inspect contents. Place on stable sewing table.

  1. Remove protective packaging: Take off all foam and tape from machine.
  2. Install foot pedal: Connect to machine port, place on floor.
  3. Connect power: Plug power cord into machine and wall outlet.
  4. Install accessories: Attach standard presser foot and needle.

WARNING! Machine is heavy; lift with care to avoid injury. Ensure stable surface placement.

First-Time Setup

Power on machine; follow initial setup procedure.

  1. Thread machine: Follow numbered threading path on machine.
  2. Wind bobbin: Use built-in bobbin winder with thread.
  3. Insert bobbin: Place in bobbin case following directional arrows.
  4. Test stitches: Select basic straight stitch and test on scrap fabric.

Basic Sewing Operations

  1. Select stitch: Turn dial to desired stitch pattern.
  2. Adjust settings: Set length and width for chosen stitch.
  3. Position fabric: Lower presser foot, begin sewing with foot pedal.
  4. Reverse stitching: Hold reverse button at beginning and end of seams.
  5. Finishing: Raise needle, lift presser foot, remove fabric, cut threads.

WARNING! Never pull fabric while needle is in material.

Advanced Functions

One-step buttonhole: Select buttonhole stitch, place fabric under foot, machine creates perfect buttonhole automatically. Free-motion sewing: Lower feed dogs for quilting and darning. Needle threader: Push lever down and through needle eye for easy threading.

Care & Maintenance

Unplug before cleaning. Remove lint from bobbin area regularly. Oil moving parts as specified in manual.

CAUTION! Use only Janome recommended oil. Keep machine covered when not in use.
