Installation & Setup

Unpack and inspect contents. Place on stable sewing table.

  1. Remove packaging materials and protective covers.
  2. Place machine on flat, stable surface at comfortable height.
  3. Connect foot control pedal to machine.
  4. Plug power cord into machine and wall outlet.
  5. Install needle and thread machine following threading diagram.
  6. Wind and insert bobbin.

WARNING! Keep fingers away from needle area during operation. Always turn off power when threading or changing needle.

First-Time Operation

Power on machine; follow basic setup procedure.

  1. Turn power switch to ON position.
  2. Select straight stitch using stitch selection dial.
  3. Practice on scrap fabric to test tension and stitch quality.
  4. Adjust stitch length and width as needed.
  5. Test reverse stitch function.

CAUTION! Always start with needle in highest position. Keep work area well-lit and free of obstructions.

Stitch Selection

Basic Sewing Operations

  4. Guide fabric gently without pulling.
  5. Use reverse stitch at beginning and end of seams.
  6. Raise presser foot and remove fabric.
  7. Cut threads using built-in thread cutter.

WARNING! Never pull fabric while needle is in material. Always watch needle area during operation.

Maintenance & Cleaning

Regular maintenance ensures optimal performance.

  1. Unplug machine before cleaning.
  2. Remove needle plate and clean lint buildup.
  3. Clean bobbin area with brush provided.
  4. Oil machine as per manual instructions.
  5. Replace needle regularly (every 8-10 hours of sewing).
  6. Cover machine when not in use.

CAUTION! Use only Janome recommended needles and accessories. Do not use compressed air for cleaning.
