Installation and Setup

Unpack and inspect all components. Place on stable, level surface.

  1. Remove machine from packaging: Lift carefully from carrying case.
  2. Install foot controller: Plug into machine's foot controller port.

  4. Attach extension table: Slide into position on free arm.
  5. Install needle: Ensure flat side faces back, tighten screw securely.

First-Time Operation

Power on machine; follow initial setup procedures.

  1. Wind bobbin: Place thread on spool pin, follow bobbin winding path.
  2. Insert bobbin: Drop-in bobbin system with clear cover.
  3. Thread upper thread: Follow numbered threading path on machine.
  4. Use needle threader: Push lever down for automatic threading.
  5. Select stitch: Turn dial to choose desired stitch pattern.

Maintenance & Cleaning

Unplug machine before cleaning. Remove lint buildup from bobbin area and feed dogs regularly.

  1. Clean bobbin area: Remove bobbin case and brush out lint
  2. Oil machine: Use only Janome recommended sewing machine oil
  3. Clean feed dogs: Use small brush to remove thread and lint
  4. Needle plate: Remove to clean underneath area

CAUTION! Never use compressed air; it can force lint deeper into mechanism.
