Installation & Setup

Unpack and inspect contents. Place on stable sewing table.

  1. Remove packaging materials and protective covers.
  2. Install presser foot: Align with shank and lower lever to lock.
  3. Connect power cord: Plug into machine and wall outlet.
  4. Install needles: Use Janome 130/705H needles, flat side to back.
  5. Thread machine: Follow color-coded threading guide.

WARNING! Keep fingers away from needles and cutting blades during operation. Always unplug when not in use.

First-Time Operation

Power on machine; test on scrap fabric first.

  1. Select stitch type: Choose 2, 3, or 4 thread overlock as needed.
  2. Adjust tensions: Start with recommended settings for fabric type.
  3. Set stitch length: 2.5-3mm for standard overlocking.

Stitch Types & Applications

2-Thread Overlock: Lightweight finishing, delicate fabrics. 3-Thread Overlock: Standard overlocking, most woven fabrics. 4-Thread Safety Stitch: Strong seams, knit fabrics.

  1. Select appropriate stitch type for fabric and purpose.
  2. Adjust tensions according to fabric weight.
  3. Test stitch on fabric scrap before starting project.
  4. Use differential feed for stretch fabrics to prevent waving.

Tip: Use rolled hem for lightweight fabrics like chiffon and organza.

Threading Instructions

Follow color-coded threading paths for proper setup.

  1. Raise presser foot and needles to highest position.
  2. Follow numbered threading sequence: Upper looper (blue), lower looper (green), needles (red/yellow).
  3. Ensure threads are properly seated in tension discs.
  4. Pull threads under presser foot toward back.
  5. Test threading by manually turning handwheel.

WARNING! Always thread with power off. Never force threads through guides.

Maintenance & Cleaning

Regular maintenance ensures optimal performance.

  1. Clean lint and dust after each project.
  2. Oil moving parts as recommended in manual.
  3. Replace needles regularly.
  4. Check and replace cutting blades if dull.
  5. Store covered when not in use.
