Installation and Setup

Unpack and inspect contents. Place on stable surface.

  1. Attach embroidery unit: Align and lock into position on main machine.
  2. Install needle: Loosen needle clamp screw, insert needle with flat side to back.
  3. Connect power: Plug power cord into machine and wall outlet.
  4. Install bobbin: Follow threading diagram for proper bobbin installation.
  5. Thread upper thread: Use automatic needle threader for easy threading.

WARNING! Keep fingers away from needle area during operation. Always turn off power when threading or changing accessories.

First-Time Operation

Controls and Functions

Threading and Bobbin

Upper Threading: Follow numbered path from spool to needle. Use automatic needle threader.

  1. Place thread spool on spool pin.
  2. Follow threading path through tension discs.
  3. Use automatic needle threader for final threading.
  4. Pull thread under presser foot toward back.

Bobbin Winding:

  1. Place empty bobbin on winder shaft.
  2. Thread through bobbin winding tension.
  3. Press foot control to wind bobbin.
  4. Stop when bobbin is 80% full.

Tip: Always use Janome recommended bobbins and threads for optimal performance.

Embroidery Operation

Supports built-in designs and imported designs via USB.

  1. Select design: Browse built-in library or import via USB.
  2. Edit design: Resize, rotate, mirror, or combine with other designs.
  3. Hoop fabric: Use appropriate hoop size with stabilizer.
  4. Position hoop: Attach to embroidery unit and secure.
  5. Start embroidery: Monitor first few stitches for proper alignment.
  6. Color changes: Machine will stop automatically for color changes.
  7. Finishing: Remove hoop and trim jump stitches carefully.

WARNING! Never leave machine unattended during operation. Keep hands away from moving parts.

USB Connectivity

Import custom embroidery designs via USB port. Supported formats: JEF, SEW, PES, DST, EXP.

  1. Format USB drive to FAT32.
  2. Copy design files to root directory.
  3. Insert USB drive into machine port.
  4. Select USB mode on touch screen.
  5. Browse and select design files.
  6. Edit and embroider as with built-in designs.

Maintenance & Cleaning

Unplug before cleaning. Regular maintenance ensures optimal performance.

  1. Clean lint buildup: Use brush to remove lint from bobbin area and feed dogs.
  2. Oil moving parts: Use sewing machine oil on designated points (refer to manual).
  3. Clean exterior: Use soft, dry cloth only.
  4. Needle replacement: Replace needle after every project or 8 hours of use.

CAUTION! Do not use compressed air for cleaning. Never spray liquids directly on machine.
